thieves used the Paris catacombs to break through to a luxury cellar
Thieves knocked through a wall of the Paris catacombs to break into a luxury apartment and steal wines with an estimated value of € 250,000.
About 300 bottles of fine wine were reportedly taken from the cellar of an apartment in the 6th arrondissement of Paris, near Le Jardin du Luxembourg.
Only a small part of the catacombs is open to the public. Police speculated that an operation in the subterranean network, which stretches for several miles and houses the remains of six million dead, would require significant planning.
