Bruno Besa

Born in Italy’s Fri­uli re­gion, Besa ar­rived in Lon­don in 1986 and spent 20 years work­ing in ho­tels and restau­rants. In 2001, he set up Astrum Wine Cel­lars with a team of friends and for­mer trade col­leagues, and he re­mains its managing direc­tor, deal­ing largely in Ital­ian wines. Besa is also a De­canter World Wine Awards judge.

Michael Gar­ner

Gar­ner is a DWWA Re­gional co-Chair for Italy and has been a spe­cial­ist in Ital­ian wine for more than 30 years. He works for im­porter Tria Wines and taught for many years for the WSET. Gar­ner co-wrote Barolo: Tar and Roses, and his new book Amarone and the Fine Wines of Verona is due for re­lease in De­cem­ber 2017.

Su­san Hulme MW

Hulme is a wine writer, judge and ed­u­ca­tor who spe­cialises in Ital­ian wines. She has lived and trav­elled ex­ten­sively in Italy, and be­came a Master of Wine in 2005, win­ning the medal for out­stand­ing per­for­mance in the tast­ing exam. To­day she runs Vin­tu­ition, her own wine ed­u­ca­tion and con­sul­tancy com­pany.
