NOT only was the singer, right, named Artist of the Year at this week’s American Music Awards where she called for young people to vote in her acceptance speech, but an Instagram post in which the 28-yearold encouraged her 112m followers to make sure they are registered is being credited for a spike of 65,000 voter registrations across the

US in a 24-hour period.

FIRST MAN

RYAN GOSLING rarely makes a bad movie and he is not about to start with this biopic of Neil Armstrong and the space race. Critics are lavishing it with praise and an Oscar nod looks to be in the bag.

FLEXITARIANISM

SCIENTISTS say we should all be embracing the ‘flexitarian’ diet if we want to limit climate change and work towards a sustainable future. That means substantially reducing our meat consumption in favour of plant-based foods. It’s also good for our health.

DOCTOR WHO

JODIE WHITTAKER lorded it over her rivals by pulling in the highest ratings for a Doctor Who series opener in 12 years with 8.2 million viewers. The episode was the highest BBC1 drama debut this year, beating Keeley Hawes in Bodyguard, which launched in August with 6.7 million viewers.
