1: It is the only English me­dieval monastery to have been re­stored and used again for its orig­i­nal pur­pose.

2: There are only 15 monks at the Abbey.

3: The main source of in­come comes from in­vest­ments.

4: Al­though Buck­fast still makes the tonic it is a mi­nor­ity share­holder and nei­ther owns the name nor the trade­mark.

5: With the tonic wine com­pany Buck­fast has sup­ported the cre­ation of a nurs­ing home in the Mid­lands.

6: There are now four ac­com­mo­da­tion houses at the Abbey - two for re­treat, one for groups and the North­gate Ho­tel.

7: Bees, orig­i­nally en­cour­aged as source of in­come, are to­day kept for re­search and ed­u­ca­tion.

8: The Mil­len­nium Gar­den has won sev­eral RHS awards.

9: The statue of Our Lady of Buck­fast, carved by a lo­cal sculp­tor, was mod­elled on a lo­cal mother and child.
