How to select the best dimensions

While printing images is something many photographers seem to do less in the modern age of social media, it is still a vital aspect of the professional’s day-to-day work process. The actual size of the print and how this should be selected is somewhat of a neglected topic. There is more to this choice than simply how big you would like an image to be displayed – the ratio of the height and length values can directly influence the composition and impact of the content itself. Furthermore, the camera type and native aspect ratio need to be considered. There is a great variety of sensor shapes and sizes today, producing more variable frame aspects than during the days of film, meaning care must be taken to ensure maximum compatibility between default output dimensions and paper format.
