THE PHOTOGRAPHY SHOW 2020 GOES ON – ONLINE
Coronavirus stalls the show, but the live event will return in September 2021
The Photography Show and The Video Show will be going online this year, with a virtual photo and video festival taking place on 20-21 September 2020 via an online, global platform that’s faithful to the live show-going experience.
Next year, the show will return once again in physical form at its traditional home, from 18-21 September 2021 at the NEC in Birmingham, UK.
The decision to hold this year’s event online via a virtual show on Sunday 20 and Monday 21 September 2020 comes amid the obvious difficulties stemming from the ongoing global pandemic and social distancing measures.
“While we believe that there’s nothing quite comparable to the benefits of the live show, we know that the decision to take [it] online this year and return to the NEC in 2021 is the best solution for our community during these unprecedented times,” says Jonny Sullens, head of the event.
However, the lack of a physical presentation won’t impede visitors’ ability to visit stands, watch interesting talks and presentations, listen to advice from industry gurus, network in lounge areas, and see the latest products. The virtual venue being employed by the show will recreate the full exhibition experience, from walking around halls to chatting to individual exhibitors.
Some of the biggest brands in the business, including Canon, Olympus and Fujifilm, have expressed their excitement for the virtual format and are collaborating with the event organisers on new ways to make it an enriching experience for visitors.
The virtual show will be free to attend, while all entry tickets and passes booked or confirmed for the cancelled March 2020 event will be valid for the new 2021 dates.
