Time to work smarter in Photoshop with Smart Objects!

ONE OF THE key benefits of Adobe Photoshop, aside from the plethora of tools at your disposal, is that you can apply most edits nondestructively. This means that pixel data isn’t affected by your changes up until the point that you export the finished file, and even then you can save your progress with layers intact with some file types. This is advantageous in that it allows you to make mistakes, adjust or even start over without affecting your original image. Smart Objects and Smart Filters play a big part in this, and if you’ve ever had to completely start over when editing because of a mistake you made early on then these smart features could save you a lot of time and stress! It’s worth noting that while Smart Objects and Filters have been a part of Photoshop for a while, and Elements for less time, the full functionality described here is available in Photoshop CS6 and newer.
