Wireless remotes are great when shooting yourself in the landscape because they allow you to release the shutter at distances often up to around 100m. This means you can be comfortably in position and only release the shutter when you’re ready, rather than racing the self- timer. You can even combine the two: use a remote with a five- second self- timer so you can hide the remote before the shutter is released. Another option for releasing the shutter is to use a Wifi app for your camera if it has this functionality. The key advantage here is that you get Liveview and access to camera settings so you can maintain a high level of control without having to walk back to the camera.
