Editor Lezano’s not ready to wind up the summer just yet
WELCOME TO THE OCTOBER 2017 issue of Digital SLR Photography. Summer is drawing to a close and while we’ve had a fair amount of rainy days, we’ve also been gifted some occasional, but lengthy chunks of hot, sunny weather, so we can’t complain too much. With the good weather set to continue a while longer we’ve no excuses not to head outdoors and once you’ve checked out this issue, we expect you’ll be gagging to get out and shoot! We’ve dedicated most of this issue to outdoor photography covering a wide range of subjects, techniques and kit. Wildlife photographers will be inspired by the story and images of Israeli photographer Roie Galitz ( page 92), while our guide to wildlife on page 77 provides ideas and advice on how you can start capturing great animal images. We’ve various tutorials to try outdoors, ranging from using an infrared filter for unusual results ( page 35) and blending exposures ( page 38) to name but two, as well as a pro workshop at the coast ( page 66). We’ve also an extensive guide to getting the most from your wide- angle lens ( page 54) along with Helen Dixon’s pro field test of Zeiss’s 18mm prime ( page 112). With lots more to inspire and educate you in this issue, you’ve a busy month of photography ahead. All the best!
