What we think: Moe explains that he shot this handheld after spotting the church from the highway – it was well worth the detour we would say! There are strong compositional elements at play here – the central, symmetrical composition, the diagonal lead- in lines and the contrast in colour between the dry, orange grass and the blue sky above. Some might have been tempted to use a longer focal length to compress perspective, but the unique field- of- view offered by an extreme wide- angle works wonders here.
