“North Wales presents endless opportunities for photographers, and Penmon is one of the best. Mark has found a nice composition – in fact, I've captured a very similar angle here myself. By arranging the elements in the scene in just the right places, he's given the image depth and offered viewers plenty to explore. Having said that, there's always room for improvement. Landscape photography is as much about technical camera skills as it is about reading the elements, and putting yourself in the right place at the right time. This is a location that's transformed by light at both sunrise and sunset, and the right light can be the difference between a good image and great one. Mark’s also visited during a high tide and while this benefits from water surrounding the lighthouse, it does means you miss many of the reflective rock pools that dot the rocky shore. Still, a great effort, and a location well worth revisiting again.”
