Side- light­ing is far more dra­matic, with more shadow and def­i­ni­tion than front light­ing. Try to an­gle your sub­ject 45° to the win­dow and dial in an f/ stop of at least f/ 4.5 to ac­count for the need of in­creased depth- of- field to stop the far eye from fall­ing out of fo­cus. Use multi- zone me­ter­ing to av­er­age the ex­po­sure.
