Somerset-based newlyweds Charlotte and Hannah are on a three-week-long honeymoon road trip through the US and, having travelled across six states in the first two weeks, they took this picture at one of their favourite stops: Yosemite. “We love this photo because it sums up how much fun we’ve had exploring this beautiful country on our honeymoon.” As well as beautiful scenery, their trip has thrown up some contrasting experiences. “In Texas we felt like we couldn’t be out and said we were friends if asked – many people assumed sisters! When we did tell someone we were married, we were asked what bad experiences we’d had with men to ‘make us gay’,” they say. “California was much more relaxed and the contrast between pretending to be ‘just friends’ and then attending Pride as an out couple was quite something!” Charlotte points out that although same-sex marriage has been legal in the US since 2015, it is clear that attitudes towards gay/bi couples vary hugely across the different states. “It’s very different to the UK, where we are fortunate as a couple to never feel anything but equal.” Best lez/bi travel experience? Gran Canaria “It is super gay/bi friendly and such an inclusive place to be.” Follow @adventuresof2girlsinlove for gorgeous travel snaps from the UK and beyond: “We love to inspire others to explore the world around them too!”
