Heritage trail bid
A hi-tech heritage trail could be on the cards for Moffat.
Community councillor Don Gillespie has identified 10 key sites in and around the town which he believes would interest visitors and locals.
And he wants £9,000 cash support from the SSE Clyde Extension Windfarm funding pot to help fund a large noticeboard which would bear a photograph of each of the 10 sites.
Using their mobile phones, the public would be able to point at a picture and download a wealth of information about the site so that they could then go on to visit it.
Alternatively, hard copies would be made available at the Moffat museum and tourist information office.
It is also hoped to have some kind of interpretation at the sites and to work with Dumfries and Galloway Council to form a walking trail around the sites using core paths.
The project is one of 15 that will be displayed at Moffat Town Hall on Sunday for residents to pop in and find out more about then cast votes for their favourites.
Community investment manager for SSE, Gareth Shields, said it was a new way of sharing out windfarm-raised cash in the local community.
