Gordie enjoys outing to Silverstone event

Dumfries & Galloway Standard - - SPORTS -

Gordie Mutch is preparing for his final Junior Saloon Car Championship meeting of the season next weekend.

His last meeting at Donnington didn’t go to plan as he was rear ended resulting in a shunt into the tire wall.

KC Motorsport changed out the engine in just over two hours between practice and qualifying as a last resort but with no improvement.

The positive for the Lockerbie lad was he had to utilise a slightly different driving style to defend or pass other drivers who have visibly quicker cars and his timing had to be spot on.

Now he will be looking for a positive end for the campaign at Brands Hatch.

On a more positive note Gordie was invited to Silverstone to watch the Ecurie Ecosse LMP3 car in action.

The stunning motor secured the Henderson Insurance brokers LLMP3 Cup championship in the hands of Alasdair McCaig (Ecurie Ecosse Director) and Colin Noble who is the other driver in the Ecurie Ecosse young driver programme along with Gordie.

The 15-year-old learned a great deal from the day and the team of Nielson Racing gave him some guidance.

And the up-and-coming racing star will be taking part in an event along with John Clark OBE, the chairman of the John Clark Motor Group for an event in Gordie’s native Aberdeen.

The John Clark Motor Group have backed the former Turriff motorsport protégé for a number of years and he is thankful for the support.

The event takes place on Thursday, September 21.
