Crichton golfers reach two national finals
Crichton golfers have had a very successful few weeks.
Two members of the club have reached the national finals for Captains and Secretaries at the Golf Club Elie on Tuesday, September 19.
Lee Sterritt and Andrew Byers booked their place after winning the regional qualifier with an impressive 61 nett at Peebles Golf Club in August
Lee also won the regional qualifier of the Scottish National Handicap Championship at Powfoot with partner Andrew Ross with a nett 67 on a very windy day. The final is at the Torrance course at St Andrews on Friday, September 22.
Unfortunately, the two Andrews are unable to compete in the finals so Lee has drafted in vice-captain Paul Gorman for the first and past captain Karl Schneider for the second event.
Ladies contest The Pearmount Cup ladies invitational was played at Dumfries and Galloway Golf Club on Sunday. Twelve couples competed in very mixed weather but that didn’t deter the winning pair Louise Bryden (DG) and Kirsty Thom (Sou) with 43 points. Louise and Kirsty had just met and played together for the first time, returning an excellent score. Runners up were Helen Kerr and Aileen Morrison 40 pts and Rosemary Kirk and Anne Kerr 39 were third. Captain Maureen McKerrow presented the cup and prizes at the close of play.
