Northern Soul star to return

Dumfries & Galloway Standard - - MONIAIVE ATTRACTS THE TOP NAMES -

Northern Soul legend Sarah Collins will make a welcome return to Dumfries’ Cairndale Hotel on Saturday, October 7.

A firm favourite on the scene with many appearances at UK and European festivals – and a YouTube channel with more than 8,000 subscribers – Sarah has a big following in the town.

Her career was derailed by a brain tumour which was successfully removed in 2012 and she’s not looked back.

Her superb vocals with the Keep The Faith band can be heard at the Parkhouse Suite from 8.30pm where they will play two sets of Motown and Northern Soul classics.

The seven-piece – guitar, bass, drums, keyboards and a three-piece brass section – are all experienced professional musicians. They will be backed by the Dumfries Soul Club.

Her singing career was brought to an abrupt halt in 2012 when, returning home after dropping off her son at school, she collapsed and wasn’t found until her husband returned home.

Doctors discovered a tumour almost a quarter of the size of her brain, which was removed in an emergency op. Tickets are selling fast and are available from the Cairndale, the Midsteeple, Barnstorm Records and TicketWeb on 01387 253383.
