Who will take on the Magnificent 7?
Two nights of rock and metal planned for town
Dumfries is to welcome an array of rock and metal stars for a mammoth weekend of music.
On October 13 and 14, The Venue will host bands and artists from all over the UK for a two-night feast of performances.
This will vary from African drumming, acoustic and rock on the Friday to an onslaught of metal that will make the crowd’s ears bleed on the Saturday.
Promoter Davie Kirkwood has been inundated with bands of all types wanting to play in Dumfries.
As a result, he has booked two nights instead of just one to ensure revellers can enjoy more than just one genre in a festival called Magnificent 7.
Davie said: “People of Dumfries have varying tastes of music, some a bit heavier than others. So, instead of mixing the bands throughout the one evening, I have split them in two.
“Hopefully this will please everyone who attends gigs in and around the area. Getting to bring bands from far away to Dumfries isn’t difficult, but getting people in Dumfries to attend is harder.
“Some of these bands have played at major festivals and played in Europe, so let’s hope they enjoy their visit to Dumfries.”
On the Friday rock night, the line up is ZanzibeatZ, Cloustopia, Dox Doherty, Deadman’s Stand, Deadfire, Anchor Lane and Rayne. Three Dumfries bands and four playing in the town for the first time promise to make this an exciting night.
On the Saturday night, the metal division hits town. With a line-up featuring Solar Sons, Rare Breed, Titan Breed, Kinasis, Bloodyard and Perpetua, this promises to be breathtaking. Tickets from Davie on 07921164687 or at dalek251419@ gmail.com, from Barnstorm, via the bands or at the door.
