Sent to prison
A 25-year-old woman who threw a glass and its contents which struck another woman in a Dumfries pub on the head to her severe injury, has been jailed for six months.
Jade Lennox, of Friars’ Vennel, Dumfries, admitted committing the assault at the Stag bar in the town’s Bank Street last month.
The court was told that she was with two others at the pub and following a dispute over family matters had moved to another table.
She then returned a short time later and during a conversation picked up the glass and threw it at the other woman striking her on the side of the head.
The victim was taken to hospital with a cut which was glued shut.
A solicitor said Lennox was really sorry for what she did.
Sheriff Brian Mohan stressed that an assault with a glass was serious and with Lennox having previous convictions there was no alternative to a prison sentence.
■ A man and a woman have been accused in court of driving off from police at speed and dumping packages believed to contain controlled drugs by throwing them from the vehicle.
Yasmin Morgan, 23, of Gables View, Annan Road, Gretna, and 24-year-old Cameron Thomson, of Lady Street, Annan, faced a charge of attempting to pervert the course of justice in June.
It was alleged they drove off at speed from a policeman who had identified himself and instructed them to stop and unlock their doors, and evaded him by driving at speed through streets in Kirkcudbright.
They were also accused of being concerned in the supplying of heroin at Gretna.
Morgan pleaded not guilty and trial was set for February while the case against Thomson was continued without plea for three weeks.
