Gretna police witness plea
Householders in Annandale and Eskdale are being advised to be on their guard after a number of house break-ins recently.
A house in Bensmoor Road, Springfield, was raided between 6pm and 11.50pm on Tuesday.
The thieves broke into the property while the pensioner who lived there was away. They made off with cash and a 32 inch TV.
PC Jim Bell is appealing for anyone who may have seen or heard anything suspicious in the area on Tuesday night to call 101.
He said: “During the time that the elderly householder was out of the house a break-in has taken place. The house appears to have been searched through and the television and cash taken. The house is in a row of four houses and we are carrying out door to door enquiries in the area.”
It follows a break-in last weekend at four vacant cottages on the Balgray Estate at Lockerbie when items including wood burning stones and a hot water cylinder were stolen.
