The Oc­to­ber meet­ing of Brown­hall SWI be­gan with the Ru­ral Song.

Mrs N Scott then in­tro­duced the speaker, Jim Rae from Eskrigg Na­ture Re­serve at Locker­bie, pic­tured.

Mem­bers were given a com­pre­hen­sive talk on the large num­ber of species there, vary­ing from birds and an­i­mals to in­sects and fungi.

It was ob­vi­ous Mr Rae was ded­i­cated to his work, along with the vol­un­teers who help him. Mrs N Por­te­ous gave the vote of thanks.

After tea and the raf­fle, busi­ness was dis­cussed and the com­pe­ti­tion re­sults given:

Wildlife or­na­ment: 1 Mrs J Wat­son; 2 Mrs Kyle; 3 D Cur­ran; 4 Mrs D Alexan­der.

Rasp­berry jam: 1 Mrs N Scott; 2 Mrs D Alexan­der; 3 Mrs S Gib­son; 4 Mrs D Cur­ran.

The meet­ing closed with the Na­tional An­them.
