The October meeting of Brownhall SWI began with the Rural Song.
Mrs N Scott then introduced the speaker, Jim Rae from Eskrigg Nature Reserve at Lockerbie, pictured.
Members were given a comprehensive talk on the large number of species there, varying from birds and animals to insects and fungi.
It was obvious Mr Rae was dedicated to his work, along with the volunteers who help him. Mrs N Porteous gave the vote of thanks.
After tea and the raffle, business was discussed and the competition results given:
Wildlife ornament: 1 Mrs J Watson; 2 Mrs Kyle; 3 D Curran; 4 Mrs D Alexander.
Raspberry jam: 1 Mrs N Scott; 2 Mrs D Alexander; 3 Mrs S Gibson; 4 Mrs D Curran.
The meeting closed with the National Anthem.
