Through to UK finals
Two young girls from the region will represent Scotland at the UK Lifesaving Championships in Leeds on November 26.
Hannah Ogilvie and Iona Morton were the winners of the Scottish Regional Lifesaving Championships in Glasgow recently when teams from all across Scotland competed.
The pair, who are members of the South West FUN Pool Group, won the girls 14 and under category.
They train every Saturday morning in Sanquhar. The club aims to prevent drowning in isolated communities and is affiliated to the Royal Life Saving Society.
The competition in Leeds will involve a variety of challenges including rescuing nine people from the water, being tested on lifesaving first-aid skills and rescue-races, both towing and using a rope to rescue their partner in the fastest possible time.
