Two young girls from the re­gion will rep­re­sent Scot­land at the UK Life­sav­ing Cham­pi­onships in Leeds on Novem­ber 26.

Han­nah Ogilvie and Iona Mor­ton were the win­ners of the Scot­tish Re­gional Life­sav­ing Cham­pi­onships in Glas­gow re­cently when teams from all across Scot­land com­peted.

The pair, who are mem­bers of the South West FUN Pool Group, won the girls 14 and un­der cat­e­gory.

They train ev­ery Satur­day morn­ing in San­quhar. The club aims to pre­vent drown­ing in iso­lated com­mu­ni­ties and is af­fil­i­ated to the Royal Life Sav­ing So­ci­ety.

The com­pe­ti­tion in Leeds will in­volve a va­ri­ety of chal­lenges in­clud­ing res­cu­ing nine peo­ple from the wa­ter, be­ing tested on life­sav­ing first-aid skills and res­cue-races, both tow­ing and us­ing a rope to res­cue their part­ner in the fastest pos­si­ble time.
