Through to the fi­nals

Sev­eral ladies rinks com­peted at Locker­bie Ice Rink last week to de­cide who would rep­re­sent Locker­bie in the Scot­tish fi­nals of the Hen­der­son Bishop Tro­phy to be held at Hamil­ton Ice Rink in Fe­bru­ary.

The win­ners were Moira Hast­ings’rink of Anne Smith, Linda Smith and Fiona Rob­son who de­feated Ann Johnstone’s rink of Mar­garet Carruthers, An­nette Hen­der­son and Pam Maxon.

The com­pe­ti­tion was spon­sored by Glen Wright of Dryfes­dale House Ho­tel, Locker­bie who at­tended the fi­nal on Thurs­day evening to present the tro­phy and prizes. Mar­garet Tay­lor, chair­man, con­grat­u­lated the win­ners and wished them ev­ery suc­cess at Hamil­ton.

Cor­rie curlers were the over­all win­ners of the Water­low Spiel, spon­sored by James Jones and Sons, Stevens Croft, Locker­bie. David Ste­wart, pres­i­dent of the Dum­friesshire Province, thanked the spon­sors for their con­tin­u­ing sup­port be­fore pre­sent­ing the Water­low Cup and prizes to the Cor­rie win­ning teams.
