Stewartry Karate Club’s Aeron Greenland added to his growing medal collection by claiming gold at the final Scottish Karate Grand Prix of the season in Wishaw.

The youngster, who lives in Georgetown in Dumfries, was full of confidence after winning a silver medal at the British International Open Karate Championships.

He knew it would be tough due to the large number of entries in the under-14 category, competing under World Karate Federation rules.

After five rounds of competition, Aeron came away with the gold medal after winning 3-0 against each competitor. It was another impressive performance and he seems to be showing good progress in every competition.

He is now training hard ahead of a trip to Italy to compete in an international competition.

Aeron trains in Kilmarnock and Clydebank and with Stewartry Karate Club and at home six days a week. A big thanks goes to the fitness team at DGOne, especially Scott McVinnie who looks after his fitness and conditioning.
