A new help group for young parents in Lochside and Lincluden had a successful first week.
Young Parents of Northwest Dumfries (YPND) aims to offer open discussion sessions where mums and dads aged 29 and under can share practice and learn skills.
Dad-of-two Anthony Taylor, 26, is behind the start-up.
It launched with two “open-hour” drop-in slots in Lochside last week and feedback from parents was reportedly positive.
Youth development worker with YMCA Dumfries, Anthony, said: “The feedback was encouraging.”
The group heard that parents were much more likely to discuss parenthood in depth with peers, rather than with health professionals.
Anthony added: “The young parents said that it was good this was a group specifically for parents to talk to each other.
“They all have friends but agreed that a purpose-group like this was invaluable.
“It is sometimes easier to talk to people who are outwith your group of friends.”
The group will meet every Tuesday at the family centre, situated next to Lochside Primary School, from 2pm3pm.
Expectant parents are also welcome to the free group.
