Locker­bie lambs

Har­ri­son & Hether­ing­ton held their an­nual show and sale of North Coun­try Che­viot and Hill Che­viot wed­der lambs at Locker­bie on Tues­day, which at­tracted a tremen­dous show of qual­ity lambs, to a packed ring­side of buy­ers.

The pre-sale show was ex­pertly judged by Mr Wil­liam McIn­tyre, West Scales, who awarded the fol­low­ing prizes:

Che­viot Wed­der Lambs: 1 RH Pa­ton, Cas­tle Craw­ford, Thorn­hill -£57; 2 RJ Men­zies & Co, Chan­lock­foot, Thorn­hill -£56; 3 Stirks­field Farms, Broughton, Big­gar - £58.

First prize pen was awarded to RH Pa­ton, Cas­tle Craw­ford, for an out­stand­ing pen which later went on to sell for £57 per head. Top­ping the sale over­all was an im­pres­sive pen from Stirk­field Farms which sold to £58 per head.

The over­all sale av­er­aged £49.02 per head for 640 sold.
