Juniors compete for Donaldson Cup
Dorothy Young (centre) from Dumfries and County receives the Uniroyal Trophy from Thornhill ladies captain Lynda Bryson along with Eileen Scott, association president. Runner up was Diane Macdonald also D&C, third was Shona Weir from Thornhill, fourth was Caroline Edward from Powfoot and fifth was Eleanor Blount from Dumfries and Galloway.
The final of Dumfriesshire Does The Mail on Sunday was contested by Lochmaben and the Crichton. The Crichton ladies emerged as winners, however, it was a very close match, going down to the last game on the course. Nearly 30 competitors took part in the Murray Farmcaresponsored competition which was played in difficult conditions.
The winner was David Sharp 70-6=64 who judged out Ben Carmichael. The scratch winner was Finlay Copland 75. First class: 1 D Sharp; 2 J Marchbank 75-3=72 bih; 3 G Irvine 78-6=72.
Second class: 1 B Carmichael 80-15=65; 2 M Hunter 9630=66; 3 C McKenzie 80-11=69. Midi Donaldson (11 holes): 1 A Bryden 61; 2 R Black 88. Mini Donaldson (7 holes): 1 C Morris 46; 2 L Murphy 57; 3 C McLuskie 60.
The junior organisers at the club would like to congratulate all the players who took part in the competition and thank head greenkeeper Steven and his staff for the way the course was presented under trying conditions.
