The re­ar­ranged ladies An­der­son Cup tour­na­ment was played at March­mount Bowl­ing Club on Septem­ber 5. The com­pe­ti­tion, spon­sored by Joe Wil­son Join­ery was won by Dorothy Thom­son (New Abbey), Kath­leen Harper and Madge Marshall (Dal­beat­tie). The run­ners up were Betty Kerr and June Court (March­mount) and Ma­bel McDon­ald (Lochmaben) and in third place were June Austin (Dum­fries), Is­abel Mof­fat (Maxwell­town) and Anne Motroni (Dum­fries). March­mount Bowl­ing Club played their open mixed re­verse pairs for the Eileen Byth Cup on Sun­day, Septem­ber 9. The tour­na­ment, spon­sored by Brian Snape Plumber was won by Ge­orge and Ma­bel McDon­ald from Lochmaben with Billy Hain­ing (March­mount) and Is­abel Mof­fat (Maxwell­town) sec­ond and Rob­bie and Kerry Fraser (Dum­fries) third. The awards were pre­sented by An­drew Snape and the tro­phy by San­dra Byth. The club cel­e­brated their 100th an­niver­sary with an Amer­i­can triples com­pe­ti­tion on Satur­day. The win­ners were Gary Davies, Roland Cross­ley and Scott Davies, from Cas­tle Dou­glas Bowl­ing Club.
