The rearranged ladies Anderson Cup tournament was played at Marchmount Bowling Club on September 5. The competition, sponsored by Joe Wilson Joinery was won by Dorothy Thomson (New Abbey), Kathleen Harper and Madge Marshall (Dalbeattie). The runners up were Betty Kerr and June Court (Marchmount) and Mabel McDonald (Lochmaben) and in third place were June Austin (Dumfries), Isabel Moffat (Maxwelltown) and Anne Motroni (Dumfries). Marchmount Bowling Club played their open mixed reverse pairs for the Eileen Byth Cup on Sunday, September 9. The tournament, sponsored by Brian Snape Plumber was won by George and Mabel McDonald from Lochmaben with Billy Haining (Marchmount) and Isabel Moffat (Maxwelltown) second and Robbie and Kerry Fraser (Dumfries) third. The club celebrated their 100th anniversary with an American triples competition on Saturday. The winners were Gary Davies, Roland Crossley and Scott Davies, from Castle Douglas Bowling Club.
