Kello Rovers were beaten 2-0 away to Girvan in the McBookie Championship on Saturday.
The game at Hamilton Park was played on a warm sunny day which was ideal for football. It started off with both teams having their chances but Kello seemed to be gaining more control of the game as it went on.
However, in the 20th minute, amidst a lot of controversy, Black for Kello was sent off for denying a clear goal scoring opportunity.
It seemed that Black clipped the heels of a Girvan player who then stumbled but kept his feet and shot at goal with the effort saved by Dunsmuir. But the referee brought the play back to where the foul took place and awarded a free kick and sent off Black.
This incident changed the whole game. Kello then played on with 10 men for 70 minutes and actually did very well. However, the opening goal for Girvan came after just four minutes of the second half from a penalty. Girvan’s second goal followed midway during the second half.
Kello played well with ten men, even after the forced substitutions of Hill and Costello due to injuries, with Rovers supporters wondering if this horrendous run of injuries will ever end.
