Albert A draw with Gold
Monday night saw league action continue in the seniors’snooker and there was action aplenty and the odd surprise result.
Scores as follows: Albert A 2 Sands Gold 2; Albert C 1 Albert Club 3; Annan Ex Club 2 Locharbriggs D 2; Bluebell 2 Locharbriggs B 2; Locharbriggs C 0 Bluebell A 4; Sands Auto 0 Annan Ex A 4; Sands Silver 3 Albert B 1.
Surprise of the week was the gutsy draw achieved by Albert A against current league champions Sands Gold, who lost their perfect record and proved they are all too human.
Whether any team can mount a sustained challenge to their dominance this season remains to be seen but this result will have been noted with interest by all the league teams.
Heroes for Albert A were Andrew Edgar and Jim O’ Donnell who deserve credit for toppling Mike Watson and Paul Jameson for Gold.
In other results and closing the gap to a mere point on level games were Bluebell A, who trounced Locharbriggs C 4-0 and Annan Ex A, winning by the same score against a struggling Sands Auto side.
Also worthy of mention is the Albert Club team who are quietly going about their business and getting decent returns for their efforts.
Monday night saw them victorious again by the margin of 3-1 against the newly formed Albert C side. With a game in hand, they could potentially join Gold at the top in coming weeks.
The Annan Ex club and the Bluebell had to settle for home draws with visitors Locharbriggs B and D respectively happy to secure an away point.
Although Albert A have taken the shine off Gold, the coming weeks will determine which team if any can demonstrate the consistency needed to succeed in this league.
