Good­show­ingby young­gym­nasts

It’s been a busy few weeks Dum­fries Y Gym­nas­tics Club.

As well as fundrais­ing for West Sound’s Big Char­ity Sports Chal­lenge, two se­nior gym­nasts trav­elled to Cum­ber­nauld and Perth for Level 4 com­pe­ti­tions.

In­jury pre­vented one of the gym­nasts at­tend­ing the com­pe­ti­tions and an­other was only able to com­pete on some pieces of ap­pa­ra­tus.

Both gym­nasts per­formed well, with Alisha McKin­nel plac­ing ninth on beam and Mor­gan Todd plac­ing ninth on bars, 10th on floor and 15th all around at the Broad­wood Cel­e­bra­tion of Life com­pe­ti­tion in Cum­ber­nauld. In the Scot­tish Gym­nas­tics Vol­un­tary Level 4 com­pe­ti­tion in Perth the fol­low­ing week, Mor­gan Todd won a bronze medal for bars, a rib­bon for fin­ish­ing fifth on beam and plac­ing an im­pres­sive eighth over­all.

Dum­fries Y Gym­nas­tics Club has com­pet­i­tive, de­vel­op­ment and floor and vault com­pet­i­tive squads as well as gym­nasts in boys, recre­ational, Fun4Baby and pre-school classes and a GymDance group.

This com­pe­ti­tion sea­son is over for the com­pet­i­tive squad but the floor and vault squad will com­pete in Perth at the end of Novem­ber and the de­vel­op­ment squad will travel to Hamil­ton to take part in the Holly Jolly com­pe­ti­tion in De­cem­ber.
