Dynamic play was supported by excellent defence
the scoring pass for his fourth of the season. Craig McCann again added the conversion.
The supporters did not have to wait long for full back Harry Houldey to cross the whitewash following a fine back line attack across the pitch. Craig McCann was again on target. It was 28-0.
A few minutes later Neal Coupland got his hat-trick. From a ruck in the centre of the 22 he received the ball and drove his way over leaving several Cumnock defenders in his wake. Five from five from Craig McCann and it was 35-0.
At the death, winger James Kirby made it 40-0. McCann made it six from six to see Annan home 42-0.
All in all a very satisfying victory from the Annan squad, albeit a far from perfect performance with numerous handling errors. But the positive points were the much improved scrummaging and improving lineout displays. Annan are trying to play a fast, expansive game and with that comes high risk but these risks were ameliorated by some well organised defensive work.
Annan’s man of the match was unsurprisingly lock Neal Coupland not only for his hat-trick but also his dynamic ball carrying display. The Cumnock Man of the Match was awarded to their live wire scrum half who was a thorn in the side of the hosts throughout the 80 minutes.
