Coach­es­praise great­ef­fortsby youngswim­mers

A group of swim­mers from Dum­fries Am­a­teur Swim­ming Club took part in the team cham­pi­onships at Toll­cross re­cently.

This one-day event saw the top 10 Scot­tish teams from the Na­tional Age Group Cham­pi­onships in­vited to en­ter a ju­nior team com­pris­ing of swim­mers aged 16 and un­der for the ti­tle of Scot­tish Na­tional Ju­nior Team Cham­pi­ons.

Eigh­teen swim­mers from DASC were cho­sen to com­pete in this event. They were sit­ting in 10th place go­ing into the event with stiff com­pe­ti­tion from some of the big city clubs.

They swam as a team, ev­ery po­si­tion they came in col­lected points, not medals.

There were 30 swims in to­tal and four re­lay teams and af­ter a great deal of ef­fort with lots of per­sonal best times and top three po­si­tions through­out the day from all the swim­mers, they fin­ished ninth over­all.

Head coach An­thony Ryan and as­sis­tant re­gional coach Ross McCaf­ferty praised the swim­mers for their per­for­mances and en­thu­si­asm.
