‘Journey into unknown’

Dumfries & Galloway Standard - - HARDROCK CHALLENGE -

Co-manager Davie Irons admitted Gretna 2008 are embarking on a journey into the unknown when they tackle Camelon Juniors in cup action tomorrow.

The Raydale Park team face a junior side for the first time in competitive action and Irons said: “This is a new proposition for us because we have never played them before.

“So it will be a very interesting match for everybody. I must admit we don’t know very much about them, other than the level they’ve been at and recent results.”

The clubs clash at Raydale in the SFA South Region Challenge Cup third round.

And the Black and Whites will be thirsting for a win after slumping to a disappointing 3-1 home defeat on league duty against Kelty Hearts last weekend.

Irons, pictured, added: “We want to get back to winning ways after a disappointing result.

“Cup games always have a little bit more bite to them and I am sure this will be no different.

“But we are at home and hopefully that gives us a bit of an advantage with the home fans getting right behind us.”
