A man has appeared in court on three charges of assaulting a woman on three occasions in almost 18 months.
Connor McLaughlin, 23, of Woodcockair Street, Brydekirk, pleaded not guilty at Dumfries Sheriff Court and will face trial later in the month.
He denied striking the woman on the head at Victory Avenue in Gretna in April last year and, at Woodcockair Street the following month, seizing her by the neck and compressing it as well as, in September this year at that same address, seizing her, throwing her onto a chair and sitting astride her restricting her movements.
■ A motorist is to face trial on a charge of driving dangerously on the A7 road near Langholm.
Adam Todd, 40, of Moorville Drive South, Carlisle, pleaded not guilty at Dumfries Sheriff Court to committing the offence near Hoghill Farm in August.
The charge alleges he failed to obey traffic markings and lane discipline, drove onto the opposing carriageway in the path of oncoming vehicles and collided with two vehicles whose occupants were injured, struck the verge and leftthe carriageway.
Trial has been set for February.
■ A 28-year-old man who behaved in a threatening or abusive manner towards his former partner, has been fined £220 and ordered to pay compensation of £260.
Jason Walsh, of Burnside Cottage, Canonbie, admitted, at Dumfries Sheriff Court, shouting, swearing and making offensive remarks and threats towards her in September.
■ A case at Dumfries Sheriff Court in which a man admitted assaulting his ex-partner by seizing her by the body has been continued for a drug treatment and testing order report.
Thirty-eight-year-old Aaron Gifford, from Edinburgh, pleaded guilty to committing the offence at a caravan at Southerness Holiday Village in June and also damaging property by kicking a table.
Meanwhile Gifford was sentenced to 12 weeks’ imprisonment back dated to August for breaching a bail order by failing to appear in the court at the end of July.
