Coach­ing ses­sions by Scot­tish stars

The cream of Scot­tish squash will be in Locker­bie next week to take part in a day of coach­ing.

In at­ten­dance will be Gold Coast Com­mon­wealth Games star Lisa Aitken along with Scot­land’s na­tional coach Paul Bell and a host of other pro­fes­sional squash play­ers.

The Scot­tish Squash Per­for­mance Pro­gramme on tour will make their first stop at the town’s squash club on Satur­day, November 17, from 2pm.

Paul Bell will run a day of coach­ing clin­ics in­volv­ing ju­nior and se­nior play­ers from the area be­fore the pro­fes­sion­als take part in some ex­hi­bi­tion matches which will see Scot­land’s num­ber one fe­male player Lisa Aitken com­pete on court.

The Per­for­mance Pro­gramme road­show is be­ing sup­ported by squash en­thu­si­ast David Lind­say of Lind­say Forestry Ser­vices who com­petes out of Locker­bie Squash Club.

Paul Bell said: “Thanks to David we can now take our Per­for­mance Pro­gramme across Scot­land which will have a re­ally pos­i­tive in­flu­ence on play­ers and coaches through­out the coun­try.

“As a gov­ern­ing body, we want to show­case the work we are cur­rently do­ing in the cen­tralised pro­gramme as well as de­velop our re­la­tion­ships with the re­gions and clubs.

“Taking our pro­gramme and the phi­los­o­phy around Scot­land al­lows us to do that and we’re de­lighted to start the tour in Locker­bie.

“It gives peo­ple in the area an op­por­tu­nity to im­prove their squash skills through the coach­ing clin­ics and wit­ness some top class squash at Locker­bie Squash Club.”
