Coaching sessions by Scottish stars
The cream of Scottish squash will be in Lockerbie next week to take part in a day of coaching.
In attendance will be Gold Coast Commonwealth Games star Lisa Aitken along with Scotland’s national coach Paul Bell and a host of other professional squash players.
The Scottish Squash Performance Programme on tour will make their first stop at the town’s squash club on Saturday, November 17, from 2pm.
Paul Bell will run a day of coaching clinics involving junior and senior players from the area before the professionals take part in some exhibition matches which will see Scotland’s number one female player Lisa Aitken compete on court.
The Performance Programme roadshow is being supported by squash enthusiast David Lindsay of Lindsay Forestry Services who competes out of Lockerbie Squash Club.
Paul Bell said: “Thanks to David we can now take our Performance Programme across Scotland which will have a really positive influence on players and coaches throughout the country.
“As a governing body, we want to showcase the work we are currently doing in the centralised programme as well as develop our relationships with the regions and clubs.
“Taking our programme and the philosophy around Scotland allows us to do that and we’re delighted to start the tour in Lockerbie.
“It gives people in the area an opportunity to improve their squash skills through the coaching clinics and witness some top class squash at Lockerbie Squash Club.”
