Mas­sage at River­hills

AF­TER a hec­tic morn­ing of meet­ings I was re­ally look­ing for­ward to a bit of re­lax­ation time and I cer­tainly wasn’t dis­ap­pointed. River­hills, on the out­skirts of Ip­swich, of­fers a stun­ning com­ple­ment of ther­a­peu­tic and re­ju­ve­nat­ing face and body care treat­ments, us­ing some of the best prod­ucts with the finest in­gre­di­ents, from top Euro­pean skin care house, Ger­maine de Ca­puc­cini, OPI nd Gel­ish, to name a few.

I was wel­comed at re­cep­tion by Mel and her team and ush­ered up­stairs into the spa­cious wait­ing room for my treat­ment. Af­ter com­plet­ing the oblig­a­tory health forms, I fol­lowed Han­nah Sim­monds, my ther­a­pist for the day, to the treat­ment room. It was clean, roomy and wel­com­ing, with a de­light­ful aroma.

I chose the Mediter­ranean Can­dle Mas­sage. Han­nah de­scribed the treat­ment, and was very at­ten­tive, ask­ing me if had any ar­eas that needed spe­cial at­ten­tion. She left me to set­tle in and I im­me­di­ately felt re­laxed and com­fort­able, thanks to the gen­tle mu­sic and the soft tow­els on the mas­sage bed.

As Han­nah be­gan the treat­ment, I could smell the An­dalu­cia (olive) can­dle, for­mu­lated with olive but­ter and rich in vi­ta­mins K and E, nat­u­ral an­tiox­i­dants that pro­tect the body and in­crease the skin’s sup­ple­ness, im­prov­ing and smooth­ing its ap­pear­ance. The can­dle burned while I en­joyed the Pinda mas­sage. The warm oil from the can­dle is then poured over the body for a pro­longed body mas­sage, us­ing deep and sooth­ing move­ments, start­ing on the back, neck, shoul­ders, legs and then front of legs arms and up­per body. This in­dul­gent mas­sage eased my ten­sion, while the nat­u­ral an­tiox­i­dants hy­drated and nour­ished my skin. The one-hour treat­ment flew by.

The Mediter­ranean Can­dle Mas­sage treat­ment costs £62 for one hour and is worth every penny. I left feel­ing both in­vig­o­rated and re­laxed, and could have stayed there all day, I felt so at ease. A very plea­sur­able ex­pe­ri­ence. Un­til the next time . . .
