Treatment of the month

Holistic skin care at Peake Spa, Stoke by Nayland

EADT Suffolk - - Inside -

PEAKE Spa, at Stoke by Nayland Hotel Golf & Spa, is a multi-award winning, family-owned business, nestled in 300 acres of picture perfect Constable Country in an Area Of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Close to Colchester and a sprint down the A12 from Ipswich, it’s convenient for escaping the hustle and bustle of daily life. I attended a wedding there a while ago and toured Peake Spa so it’s been on my list of spas not to be missed. I’m a huge fan of Decleor products and it didn’t take much to talk myself into sampling an exclusive facial treatment. Being a woman of a certain age (50+), I was guided by the spa manager, when booking the appointment, to try the Decleor Advanced Sculpt & Lift facial.

THE EXPERIENCE

I’m greeted by a team of friendly, front of house staff, all immaculately turned out and who all possess an enviable glow to their skin. My therapist, Georgina, graciously guides me to the treatment room and thoroughly explains the elements of the facial treatment, so I know what to expect. The room has a wonderful ambience and I feel myself beginning to relax.

The service promises one hour and ten minutes of sheer bliss. I melt into the soft, heated bed and Georgina explains that she’ll start with the back diagnostic, a USP of a Decleor facial, introducing the therapist’s touch as it reveals, through gentle massage, problem areas in the body. Apparently the skin remains cool to the touch, except for areas of concern, which tend to become hot.

This treatment is classed as an anti-ageing facial and features Orexcellence top of the range products. The product range includes basic cleanse, tone and moisturising, and the complementary range, which helps to tackle particular skin concerns. The star in this particular facial is the Aromessence Magnolia Youthful Oil Serum, a blend of essential oils chosen specifically for their properties to help treat, and ‘ensure optimum affinity with the skin’. The essential and botanical oils are derived from pure, natural origins to enhance your body and your wellbeing when massaged into the skin. According to Decleor, the philosophy is ‘skin, body, mind’, a holistic approach in which all three elements connect in a sensory experience. The company was co-founded by Solange Dessimoulie in 1974. Her philosophy was to feel good in your body and soul, to feel good in your skin. Afterwards, I had the most restful night’s sleep in a long time, which I can only attribute to my ‘Decleor’ facial. I felt my skin, body and mind were in unison, in keeping with their philosophy.
