We Celebrate the Arts and Value the Individual

In our family-oriented school there are 600 individuals and no need for stereotypes. You won’t find the students split into factions – the academic high flyers may well also excel on the stage and the sporty ones find their second home in the art room. Our core values are summed up in the words Aspiration, Respect and Confidence, chosen by the College community as crucial outcomes for our children. These values underpin the students’ busy, productive days. Academic results are important to us. Our Sixth Formers’ progress at A-level has just been rated amongst the top 15% nationally for value added by the Department for Education. Our students go on to top universities across the country. We are known for our sport; the College is a centre for elite young sportsmen and women, with exceptional coaching and facilities. Our annual Rugby Festival is renowned across the UK and our girls’ U13 squash team has reached national level. Many students have taken up careers in professional sport. We are also proud of our extraordinary provision in the Creative and Performing Arts. As with Sport and Academics, the Arts pervade College life – from first steps in percussion in the Nursery to LAMDA Gold Medals in the Sixth Form. We don’t see the Arts as just an after-school activity, but as a means of self-fulfilment and as a potential career path. Whilst each year a handful of top talents will go on to leading art and drama schools, the rest of the student body will also have grown in aspiration, respect and confidence through the creative process. Our annual musical show performed in a professional theatre is one highlight. Another is our Arts Week, when everyone is urged to take their courage in their hands and perform… or paint or create an art installation, write a poem, read a piece of literature special to themselves. The list is almost endless. We offer a variety of scholarships and awards each year, recognising academic, sporting and artistic talent.
