News of the county’s galleries
The Hunter Gallery’s autumn exhibition is an exciting mixed show featuring favourite local artists who have been very busy this summer painting around Suffolk and Norfolk.
Among them is Margaret Glass PS (The Pastel Society), who has painted some idyllic scenes of the Suffolk coast. Halima Washington-Dixon exhibits a lovely series of Suffolk landscapes that she has painted ‘en plein air’, and Jonathan Trim, an expert in capturing the effect of light on water, has a wonderful series of the River Stour.
The exhibition also features Mark Eldred who has painted his famous bluebells in small scale, David Farren with some impressionistic French river scenes, Peter Heard with some lovely landscapes in his characteristic and well known idiosyncratic style, Scottish artist Ian Elliot with some colourful Scottish and Italian landscapes, and introducing young artist Dawn Kay, who paints with a soft pallet very detailed still life compositions and flowers that are a delight to the eye.
On show also are regulars at the gallery, Alexander Debenham, Harry Brioche, Steven Mcloughlin and Edward Noott RBSA.
A glass of fizz awaits you at the opening of the exhibition on Saturday, September 22.
