The Kitchen@Thorpeness, The Boathouse and The Munnings Art Museum, Dedham
“It took two weeks for the feelings of panic to stop. I kept patting my pocket to check for keys, thinking I had to rush somewhere. Then I started to relax. Space to breathe and time with the family has been lovely. I’ve had ten weeks with my fiveyear-old boy. It’ll be hard when school goes back.
“We’ve done boxed salads, homemade sausage rolls, cakes to go from the Kitchen, and people have bought what’s on offer – they’re grateful which is lovely. The Boathouse will look very different going forward – less restaurant-y, more like the Kitchen with breakfast, lunch and more early dinners.
We’ve painted it, and seeded the walkway, and grass has grown for the first time in 15 years! It looks like a new pin. The museum probably won’t open for a while, but I’m working on a new project at Felixstowe, due to open next year. I’m busy, but I like ‘seat of your pants’ pressure, it makes things happen!”
