BOARDING HOUSE DINING ROOMS, HALESWORTH

“The hotel’s looking great, really gorgeous. Everything’s ready with the new rooms, bathrooms, bar, the garden. And this chef can plaster! It’s like icing a cake, that’s how I see it. Consistency’s like a Canadian pancake batter. I did the whole bar area, it’s looking fabulous. These months have been an emotional rollercoaster. I’m a ridiculously positive person but even I have struggled. If I get down I play punk rock really loud, two 100W amps full blast, so loud once that someone called the police because they thought we were having a rave. When we were allowed to let one person into the family circle, I went to my jam space with my bandmate and we played, me on guitar, him on drums. All original stuff, doom metal. It was like ‘how much noise can two people make at the same time’.

Was that cathartic? Yes!

Will we be here when this is all over? Yes!
