Bus needs some drive
The Strathaven Community Bus is in need of volunteers to secure the future of the lifeline service.
Community transport chair Phil Brittin is calling for local drivers to get involved with the team as they look to continue to build the project.
The group serve over 1000 people and around 20 groups across Avondale.
Activities range from supporting youth groups to helping pensioners get to various events.
Phil told the News they were looking for “one or two” new drivers – but encouraged as many people as possible to come forward.
“It’s a really rewarding thing to do,” he said.
“I’d encourage anyone who is considering doing it to get in touch.”
To join the team, you only need to have a category D1 licence, be under the age of 70 and be available on average one morning every two to three weeks.
If you can help, or know anyone who can, please contact Phil on (01357) 520472.
