East Kilbride-based Motorola was one of only 120 businesses throughout the country who received the Queen’s Award for Export Achievement. The list of companies was announced and the award was for “a substantial and sustained“increase in export earnings. The Motorola factory at the Kelvin Industrial Estate manufactured silicon crystal semi-conductors.
Strathaven was to get a £100,000 Parisian-style restaurant despite strong objections from residents in the area. The East Kilbride Licensing Appeal Court upheld a decision by the Licensing Court to grant a public house license to Erskine Developments Ltd for a restaurant in the town’s Waterside Street.
