Friendly fes­ti­val of one act plays to be staged

East Kilbride Rep The­atre Club’s pop­u­lar one act play com­pe­ti­tion re­turns to the Vil­lage The­atre this May.

The an­nual Rep Fest is a fan­tas­tic week of the­atre that sees am­a­teur dra­mat­ics clubs from across the coun­try per­form a short one act play. Ev­ery play is pro­fes­sion­ally ad­ju­di­cated at the end of each night – pub­licly to the au­di­ence and pri­vately to the cast and pro­duc­tion team. And on the fi­nal night of the ‘friendly fes­ti­val’, tro­phies from six dif­fer­ent cat­e­gories are awarded.

The cat­e­gories are: Best Stag­ing; Best Ac­tress; Best Ac­tor; Best Pro­duc­tion; Pro­duc­tion in Sec­ond Place and Pro­duc­tion in Third Place.

Since the fes­ti­val be­gan in 1984, over 400 plays have been put un­der the spot­light.

Clubs have come from far and wide and this year, the Rep wel­come some old friends as well as some new clubs with groups from Camp­bel­town, Greenock, Car­luke, Rutherglen, Fin­try and Glas­gow.

Rep Fest runs from Wed­nes­day, May 10 to Satur­day, May 13. Cur­tain up 7.30pm.

Tick­ets are priced £4 for shows on Wed­nes­day, Thurs­day or Fri­day, £6 for the Satur­day show or £12 for a ticket for the whole fes­ti­val.
