YM forced to settle for point

East Kilbride News - - SPORTS -

East Kilbride YM remain third in the Caledonian League after being held by rivals Cambria last week.

The two promotion hunting sides served up a thrilling encounter in midweek with the end result helping the other sides challenging for the promotion spots.

Midway through the half YM’s Cammy McCulloch, returning after a short injury enforced absence, saw his shot rebound off the Cambria upright but unfortunately the ball eluded the inrushing Ricky Orr and the chance was lost .

YM eventually took the lead from the penalty spot after Orr had been impeded and McCulloch made his usual competent job from the spot.

Cambria hit back but again YM defended well until late in the game when a Cambria throw in found Irvine running in to the penalty area and his shot found the net to bring the sides level.

Both teams tried to find a winner but at the end of a very good match the teams had to settle for a point apiece.

Elsewhere, YM’s GGPL side, who have started well in their Spring Cup section, drew 1-1 with local rivals Dynamo EK. Cammy McCulloch scored in another run out for the club, but Dynamo’s Andrew Fulton equalised just moments later.
