Challenging capitalism

In reply to Darren Clyde’s letter (Capitalism is freedom, April 12).

In your letter you reduced the hungry to a statistic which is a typical Tory ploy.

The clever men of the Scottish enlightenment realised that if capitalism was to work for the many rather than the few it would need to be very tightly controlled but the Tories removed the controls.

To quote the modern capitalist John Maynard Keynes: “Capitalism is the extraordinary belief that the nastiest of men, for the nastiest of reasons, will some how work for the benefit of all”.

I’m getting leaflets from Tories, Liberals and Labour telling us what they will do if elected. I refer them to the SNP leaflet : “Proud of what we have achieved”. Hopefully we become a more caring nation despite the other parties.
