As one of those who objected to the demolition of Stewartfield Farm, I wish I’d tried harder to find a way for it to be saved (Green light for homes, August 16).
Who knows – my actions might have been successful?
In this case the objectors lost but it may not always be the case in the future.
Within the East Kilbride planning area and elsewhere are some surviving listed buildings and details of those can be found on the Historic Environment Scotland website or within a list held by East Kilbride Central Library for public scrutiny.
If there is a building which you consider worth listing but is not on the list, you can do something about it.
All you require to do is contact Historic Environment Scotland on their website or by telephone, email or letter. They are very helpful people. The final decision is theirs but in raising awareness you will have taken a vital step in protecting our history and heritage.
