Com­mu­nity grants handed out

Com­mu­nity groups in East Kil­bride and Avon­dale re­ceived a cash boost when the lat­est round of grants were ap­proved.

In a paper put be­fore coun­cil­lors at an East Kil­bride area com­mit­tee meet­ing, 15 or­gan­i­sa­tions en­joyed a wind­fall to­talling £3460 on top of £9580 pre­vi­ously al­lo­cated.

It means that out of the £25,000 avail­able to com­mu­nity groups for 2017/18, there is still £11,960 left in the pot. The groups in East Kil­bride and Avon­dale to be awarded grants last month were:

Strathaven Rain­bow So­cial Club, £350 for spe­cial­ist trans­port;

Clare­mont Ram­bling Club, £200 for out­ing;

Mon­crieff Par­ish Church Guild, £200 for out­ing;

The Golden Girls Guild, £200 for out­ing; Calder Tower Res­i­dents’As­so­ci­a­tion, £200 for out­ing;

Glass­ford Church Women’s Guild, £130 for out­ing;

Chapel­ton Sil­ver Cir­cle, £200 for out­ing; Na­tional Schizophre­nia Fel­low­ship, East Kil­bride, £250 for out­ing and fees;

Friends of Lang­lands Moss Lo­cal Na­ture Re­serve, £200 for equip­ment;

Our Lady of Lour­des Bowl­ing Club, East Kil­bride, £180 for out­ing;

East Kil­bride Boys’Brigade, £200 for en­trance fees;

‘Live it for Lee’, East Kil­bride, £250 for out­ing and equip­ment;

Strathaven and Dis­trict Probus Club, £200 for out­ing.
