East Kilbride News - - MEMORY LANE -

East Kilbride received a jobs boost when the Lindsayfield Safeway store opened its doors to the public. A total of 230 jobs were created at the new supermarket which was set to be officially opened by Adam Ingram MP.

East Kilbride came to a standstill during the funeral of Diana Princess of Wales. The town centre, normally bustling on a Saturday morning with shoppers, was deserted as residents watched the people’s princess being laid to rest. Shops, leisure centres and the town’s cinema remained closed.
